Catching Up

We went to Vegas a few weeks ago. It seems like we go a lot but we have to fit in as many trips as possible - Jonah only flies for free for another two months.
So many fun things happened. Here are some of the highlights:

Julianne's Baby Shower

Julianne has been one of my bf since we were freshman in high school. She is pregnant with twins (a boy & girl). I am so excited for her! It just so happened that the "girls" were all in town for the week so we threw a little party.

Happy Birthday Dad

My Dad turned the big 60. We had a BBQ. The grandkids put on a talent show. We played a game "who knows Dad/Grandpa the best". We ate lots of good food and enjoyed our time together. My Dad is the best...ever, seriously!
Jonah is obsessed with my Dad. He would follow him around everywhere. Towards the end of our vacation Jonah preferred my Dad over me - he only wanted Grandpa to "holdey" him.

Pictures

My sister and I had pictures taken of our kids. It is not easy to get a good pictures of Jonah - he wont sit and smile. Please tell me at some point he will look at the camera and smile. Half of the pictures I take of him are of the back of his head. The little boy is busy...

Welcome to Cowboy Country

It has been 10 years since I graduated from Chaparral HS. When I can start counting things in ten year increments, that makes me feel old. It was fun to get together with friends from high school.

Play Time

The best part of the trip was spending time with family and friends - just playing.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

A few weeks ago, Jordan's firm gave him free tickets to the Braves baseball game. We are big Braves fans (although they have struggled the last few seasons). We enjoy catching a baseball game several times a year. We had awesome seats, 15 rows behind home plate.

Due to all the crazy rain in the Atlanta area, the game was delayed two hours. We stuck it out and enjoyed a beautiful evening. Jonah enjoyed the ice cream & foam tomahawk.

Cooking

Have you heard of Peachtree Cooking?

Well, this is a new recipe blog that all the Jewkes girls have started (10 of us). Rachel had the brilliant idea to start a blog to share recipes that we have used on our own families. These are tried, tested & good recipes.

So if you are ever in need of a good recipe, for any occasion, then check out our cooking blog here.

camera

Our camera didn't make it through the move. The shutter only opens half way and the "replace batteries" light is constantly on even though I just put new batteries in. Blogging isn't as fun without pictures, don't you think?
I am excited to get a new camera! Any recommendations?

Georgia on my Mind

It is official, we are back in Georgia! We moved this weekend and are settling in. I have already had two neighbors stop by to introduce themselves, bring over a treat and welcome us into the neighborhood. I didn't know people still did that...but I like it!
Our "first" house that we bought in GA currently has renters, so we had to rent another house until our own house was available. Complicated! But our new (rental) house is big and bright with a great backyard.

I am sad to leave the familiarity of my Florida neighborhood and friends. My friends have been so good to me! We had a fun going away party and then they showed up the next day and helped me do a deep clean of the house. When somebody willingly cleans your shower and fridge you know that they are friends for life!

So many things have happened in the last couple of weeks. Every day there is some kind of new drama BUT always followed by a blessing. A blessing that I didn't expect. As we get settled, recover,I am starting to think... we will make it.

The sunny state

We love summer! We got back from a long weekend at the beach. Then one day at home. After that Jonah and I flew to Atlanta for about 6 days. Jordan made the drive up. We got to spend some fun time with family. For some reason I never pulled out my camera. Now, Jonah bug and I are back in Florida but have been tormented with the flu.

Between all of travels Jordan was offered a job at a law firm in Atlanta. Jordan did an internship with this firm and they called him up asking him if he wanted a job. Whoa! Talk about a solid job falling into our laps (especially in this economy). Jordan has accepted the job. So back to Georgia we go at the end of this month (although Jordan promised me our next move was going to be "out west".) We feel like this will be a good career move for Jordan. Plus they like him, enough to track him down in Florida (which is so refreshing). Jordan has convinced the GA bar to let him take the bar exam in exactly 4 weeks. So Jordan is working and cramming. But we are optimistic.

The house we own has renters in it and they are under contract for at least another year. So we are looking for a rental house, preferably in the same area. So if any of my GA friends know of anything, let me know.

I am sad to leave our friends in Florida. I will miss the nine months of blissfully wonderful weather. I will miss the neighborhood that I have walked, run and biked so many miles.

We move forward.

Bath Tub Beach

We went to the beach today. We have tried to go for the last two weeks but the rain would always prevent us from getting much past our neighborhood. It has rained almost every single day for the last month. I don't remember last summer being so rainy. Anyway, we got some beach time in before it started raining this afternoon. We love the beach! (But we don't love all the bug bites - we are all covered.)
